Director

Emily has been involved with the Charles City Arts Center since 2008 and the Director starting in 2019. She enjoys the myriad of roles required for the daily operations at the Arts Center, especially supporting artists and welcoming visitors with inquisitive eyes and minds.

DR. ROBERT MULCAHY

President

Robert has been involved with the Arts Center since 2022. He is an English/Composition instructor at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Prior to that, Robert taught various courses in literature, film, culture, media, and the Russian language at The Ohio State University and the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Before the Covid pandemic, Robert was the Moscow Director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Russian summer study abroad program—until the pandemic and recent political events put that program on hold. Robert is passionate about bringing the arts to a broader community.

NANCY CLARKE

Vice President

Nancy is a graduate of Charles City High School.  She attended the Haystack School of Crafts in Maine, was involved with VISTA living in Arizona, and traveled extensively.  She was an Administrative Assistant for the Dept. of Human Services in San  Diego CA until retirement in 1990. Since moving to Charles City she has been very involved in the Main Street Design Committee.  She received a Women of the Year award while volunteering on that Committee.   She has been a volunteer on the Charles City Arts Council for seven years and continues to do so.

JULIE MORTON

Secretary

Julie has been involved with the CCAC for almost two decades. She joined the board in 2024 and has also served on the board in the past.

Julie has BA/MA in Geography Education from the University of Toledo and is also endorsed by the state of Iowa as 5-12 educator. She has also been a substitute teacher for over 30 years.

She is a passionate supporter of the arts. It began when her daughters attended our After-School Art Program. She is a dedicated volunteer at many events and you can always find Julie at the Art-a-Fest info booth.

Julie loves the inspiration that being involved with arts provide.

PATRICIA POINTS

Board Member

Patricia holds post graduate degrees M.Ed and Ed.S from Augusta University, Augusta, Georgia. She loved teaching and being an elementary principal. Having taught art workshops for children and adults, she is happily promoting the arts here in her hometown Charles City.

DR. KATHRYN CAMPBELL

Board Member

Kathryn Campbell loves learning and enjoys the arts. After earning an A.B. and M.A. in English from the University of Kansas, three years of study in early Celtic languages at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, she was a tenured Professor of English at the University of Iowa for ten years. Since then she studied to become an Episcopal priest and has served tiny churches in Northern Iowa for about forty years, taking time off to get a D.Min. from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She has been active in teaching for the Diocese of Iowa and the Hazelnut Connection in Charles City as well as bands in North Iowa and the Charles City Singers. She's excited by the opportunity to serve the community as a member of the Arts Council.

DR. MICHAEL TRACEY

Board Member

Michael is one of the newest members of the Arts Council, joining in 2024. He is a chemist at Cambrex Charles City working as a Research Fellow in process development to enable large scale manufacturing of human medicines. Michael grew up in southeast Minnesota (Red Wing), completed his Bachelors of Science degree at Denison University (Granville, OH), his Doctorate in Chemistry at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis), and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA). Michael and his family love the arts and frequently visit modern art museums when they travel to larger cities. One of his favorites is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
